Alyssa Ponte

Hello! I am a student at the University of Guelph, currently completing my undergraduate degree in Art History, and have been working with the Manufactured Ecosystems team since May 2024. This year, I am fortunate enough to be part of the amazing gallery coordination team. My particular area of interest within Manufactured Ecosystems is in speculative future, techno-ecological, cyberpunk, and sci-fi-based replacement technology. Academically, my specialisation is in Curatorial Practice, Medievalism and Catholic art, but Pre-Raphaelite and Neo-Classicism have a special place in my heart. In my free time, I enjoy writing, digital art, hiking, fantasy and alternate reality TTRPGs, Renaissance Faires, and anything fun and creative I can do with friends.

Hi! I am a Master of Wildlife Biology student with a background in climate change adaptation, mitigation, and species-at-risk policy. I am passionate about leveraging the intersection between art and science to develop innovative solutions for conservation in the face of a rapidly changing environment. Within Manufactured Ecosystems, my role bridges scientific research and art. In addition to my research, I contribute to the visual identity of the gallery and have painted many of the icons used in our branding, my own work involving conceptual ecosystem futures, and the arch installation featured in the space (pictured). You can see my contributions throughout the exhibit!
